Arabian Oil Company, Ltd. (AOC) discovered Khafji oil field in 1960 in the offshore Neutral Zone (now Divided Zone) between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia under the Concession Agreements concluded with both countries, and since then AOC maintained petroleum operations there for more than 40 years. After the expiration of the Concession Agreements, AOC continued to be engaged in the petroleum operations there under the Technical Services Agreement with Kuwait until January 2008.
AOC is moving forward to explore new commercial opportunities primarily in the Middle East and Norwegian North Sea with an eye to expanding and strengthening its business foundation. Under that policy, AOC currently participated in the crude oil producing operations in the Norwegian continental shelf through its subsidiary and engaged in the exploration and development of crude oil in the Gulf of Suez, Egypt.
